Martin Hook champions SANYO’s ECO CO2 heat pump technology at Oceanair Distribution

Well-known industry trainer Martin Hook is working with Oceanair Distribution Ltd as heating product manager and is also heading up training.

He is running the company’s new carbon dioxide technology training courses, designed to equip contractors to install and commission SANYO’s ground-breaking ECO CO2 heat pump-based heating system.

Martin said: “It’s a stunning product, and puts conventional technology in the shade. For anyone looking to reduce energy running costs and make serious long-term savings, this is the way to go.

“I have an ECO CO2 system installed as a demonstration project at home. In the past few months several people have visited to see it in action – and all have purchased, including a neighbour. Once people see the benefits, it practically sells itself.”

The one-day course highlights the operating principles of the carbon dioxide cycle, and how it differs from conventional refrigerant and gas-fired systems. It highlights the exceptional performance at lower ambients. It also provides hands-on training, giving installers practical experience of the systems in use.

Richard Tyson, Oceanair managing director, said: “We are delighted to have Martin’s expertise available to us. He co-devised the course on behalf of SANYO, and knows the requirements inside out. Few people in the UK are as well qualified to deliver top quality training to our many customers interested in taking on the ECO CO2 product.”

He added: “He is an enthusiastic champion for the technology. Given his experience and wide industry background, it is an endorsement that will command respect among the trade.”

Since the ECO CO2 system was officially launched at H&V/RAC09 earlier this year, interest in the technology has taken off, according to Oceanair Distribution. To date, it has received several hundred enquiries, which are now translating into orders.

“In the age of expensive energy, and the need to cut carbon emissions, we believe it’s a technology whose time has come. We are supporting our customers right down the line in adopting it,” says Richard Tyson.

So far Oceanair has trained over 30 registered installers in CO2 technology, and with a number of courses scheduled to happen over the next few weeks the figure is set to rise to above 50.
